A for adults instead of searching for a

A well-known philosopher and educationalist, Jean – Jacques Rousseau, left his impacts in the Age of Enlightenment in France and around Europe. Apart from the Enlightenment period in 1715 which had an important scientific revolution, he also influenced the start of the French Revolution in 1789 and the thought about education. (Cultural Transformation, The Enlightenment, n.d) During the debate of the Enlightenment they were not tolerating faith and doctrine because they used to give the priority to reason. Although he had an abnormal childhood and has not experienced formal education, the way he thought about education had influenced other educational thinkers. According to Rousseau, every individual is born good but by the time, we get manipulated by the troubles found in the society.  (Michele Erina Doyle & Mark K. Smith, 2007) He showed everyone how he thinks the ideal education should be by creating a character named Émile, where he puts his upmost to remove any influence from the society from this kid as he believes that society corrupts the mind.

Rousseau insisted and disagreed with the type of education system where education is formal and old-fashioned which shows that it is artificial. For him, the child develops internally his character by education hence it is not about teaching evidence or knowledge. The priority of education to every child is that children start to get ready to be given education. Rousseau states that the nature, man and things give us education and ultimately, he consider nature as a benefaction for all individuals.  http://pakphilosophy.blogspot.com.mt/2014/03/rousseau-and-his-contribution-to.html Rousseau insists that “Childhood has its place in the sequence of human life; the man must be treated as man and the child as a child” (Khalid, 1974).  He focused on the fact that a child is not capable of learning the same amount just like an adult and a child’s character is built slowly throughout the years. A child which is being educated should be let to learn new things and grow by himself because later on he is the one who leaves effects on the society. People always search for adults instead of searching for a child as a child is seen as supreme enough like an adult. Children should have their own space and Rousseau thought that a child himself should request how education should be done.  http://pakphilosophy.blogspot.com.mt/2014/03/rousseau-and-his-contribution-to.html As a teacher this will help you to understand in what children are most interested in and what technique should a teacher use to reach the goal while focusing on the children’s interests. The children will use more critical thinking and problem solving and can start analyzing information. The curiosity and imagination of every child can come up with great ideas of learning and thus, we can use the children’s information and suggestions to educate not only listening to the adult’s suggestions. The children’s suggestions must be always taken into consideration as they are the ones that must be the most engaged in what is happening to learn.  For Rousseau an individual perceive a need of something then he/she tries to reason out things to see how to solve that problem and then through that reasoning, he/she tries to solve his/her issues. Rousseaus pinpoints clearly the fact that for him perception about need is the center of education and that is why we must let children reason out things before giving them the answers.
